When I enter the waves,
The ocean wraps me in its graves.
The whispers sung by countless plankton
Steal my breath, a solemn melody.
It feels like fate, a cruel and eager dance
As I am pulled and swept away.
My sight was laved in perfect tone,
A lonely, serene shade of blue.
I reached for the light with spectral grace,
But sank too deep to find a place.
I screamed, but salt-born veil replaced my cries,
Tides filled with loneliness embraced the skies.
The world grew pale, then clattered to dust
A fading world I once dreamed of.
My eyes grew heavy, sealed by sleep,
Like submarines drag through the deep.
The hush became a hum,
But no one would know where or why.
My soul was drawn with gentle strokes,
Now it fills itself with nothing but water that flows.
Author’s Note:
This poem was written for anyone who has ever felt like the world held no meaning. Sometimes, the most serene disappearance lies within suffocating ocean waves. I wanted everyone to feel a sense of relatability and understanding because everyone faces difficult emotions, and sometimes, we all need to be heard through others.
