“(Laughter Dies)” by Ashlie DiCarlo

Sitting in your room
The TV blasting some comedy show

Uncontrolled laughter
With nowhere to go
And nothing to do.

The only worry in our mind being
what time we needed to be home,
Or what movie there was to pick out.

But for some reason the nights,
We looked forward to all week long
Would simply just turn into nights on our own.

The movies we watched would end
The light will be turned off.
And our goodbyes would be said.

The laughs between us would begin to quiet
And ultimately, as if foreshadowed in the comedy movie captions we just watched,

(Laughter Dies)

Author’s Note:
(Laughter Dies) is a piece dedicated to the fading of friendships. How no matter how hard you might have laughed with them, or the memories made, like every punchline- laughter inevitably dies.
