“Little Lights” by Laiba Khan

A smile can shine without a sound,
a quiet gift that’s all around.
A hand that holds a heavy door,
a kindness given, nothing more.

A word that lifts when days are gray,
a laugh that brightens someone’s way.
Small sparks that grow gently spread,
like trails of light where hope is led.

No need for thunder, grand displays,
the little lights will find their ways.
Through crowded streets or empty halls,
they build us up, they break down walls.

So never doubt the smallest part,
the tiny glow within your heart,
because those sparks, when shared are true
can light the world
starting with you.

Author’s Note:
This poem was inspired by the quiet power of kindness and how small, thoughtful moments can create lasting warmth. I wanted to capture the idea that even the tiniest gestures, like a smile or kind word, can make someone’s day feel lighter. Sometimes we forget how much we can do just by being compassionate and present. This poem is a reminder that we all carry light, and sharing it can make a bigger difference than we think.
