“Lucky” by Rani Johnson

I hope I never forget how lucky it is to just be.
To feel the warmth of sunlight on my skin
is to wear gold that can’t be bought.

To see the colors of the sunset
is to gaze upon a new painting every single
day.

To hear the crashing of waves
is to listen to the Earth’s lullaby.

To smell the scent of fresh flowers
is to breathe the Earth’s perfume.

To taste ripe fruit
is to savor summer candy, nature’s sweetest gift.

To exist
is to be wrapped in the world’s kindness
and given God’s grace.

There’s sacred in the simple
and simple in the sacred

I’ll never forget how lucky I am to just be.

Author’s Note:
Humans have become busy creatures, often clouded with worry about school, work, or planning for the future. We forget to slow down, take a breath, and appreciate the small, but beautiful moments around us. I wanted to write something that could serve as a gentle reminder -to both myself and others- to have gratitude for even the simplest of experiences.
