“How Does It Become Wrong Only After It Fails?” by Anushka Yadav

Regret doesn’t announce itself loudly.

It silently slips in one of the happiest moments.

It strikes like a dagger making one restless, and suddenly a strange amount of heat flushes through

the body.

For a moment, one could not even understand what’s happening inside them.

But still, it slowly sits with the person and quietly drains them little by little.

People start feeling that maybe they could have done something else.

They start thinking all of the what ifs.

What if I had chosen differently?

But they do not realise they would not have cause

if they could have, they would have

cause when the decision was chosen, that was what felt true for them in the moment.

there was no other version of truth that could have felt more real than the chosen one

but the choice became regret only after the outcome changed.

How does it become wrong only after it fails?

Regrets were meant to teach not imprison us.

One should stop punishing themselves for not knowing the future.

If it once felt true to them, they should stand by it.

Just because it went wrong later on, does not mean that it was wrong.

Author’s Note
